MIND&BODY: A personal connection
I'm sure you have heard 'it is all connected' and I'll tell you that I'm a pretty firm believer. Especially when it comes to ourselves; physically, mentally and emotionally.
Your entire being is communicating within itself on a level that most of us haven't become aware of. By checking in with the emotions of the body and thoughts of the mind, we can connect the two to decipher more of what is happening within our being. This awareness can even help us to recognize why and when certain bodily responses are even occuring.
One way I try to incorporate a little more of this internal connection, that is truly natural and within all of us, is to introduce the power of breath and it's abilities to help release the tension within the physical plane. Technically, your breath is a messenger that is sending messages to our central nervous system (CNS). Deep, slow and relaxed breath signals that we are relaxed and the body is not under attack. In turn, your nervous system takes this message and sends it straight to the tension. And what do you think happens next? Yep, that tension melts just a little bit more into this safety.
Next time you find yourself in a stressful moment, stop and tune in. Where is your breath at? Is it shallow and stopping at your heart? Or are you able to slow down and feel your breath fill the depths of your belly. If they are shallow, try to slow them down. Close your eyes and feel the air filling up your entire body. Then try to feel where the stress resonates in the body. Where do you tend to hold when you are in a moment of stress. Now take that slow breath and send it to that spot to create more space and ease. You will naturally
Breath is one way to feel the connection of your mind and body. A few other ways to tune in are:
The more we can slow down and check in, the more we will start to understand what has triggered the aches and pains of our minds and bodies.
